A Brief History of the Dallas Stars

 The Dallas Stars are a professional ice hockey team based in Dallas, Texas. They are members of the Central Division of the Western Conference in the National Hockey League (NHL). The team was founded during the 1967 NHL expansion as the Minnesota North Stars, based in Bloomington, Minnesota. In 1993, the franchise relocated to Dallas. 

The team played their home games at Reunion Arena from 2001 to 2014. In 2014, they moved to American Airlines Center. The Stars have won seven division championships since moving to Dallas and two Presidents' Trophies as the top regular season team in the league. As of 2020, they have qualified for 12 Stanley Cup playoffs, with two Stanley Cup Finals appearances. Their first Stanley Cup appearance came in 1991–92 when they were defeated by the Pittsburgh Penguins; this appearance marked the first time that a former WHA team reached the Stanley Cup Finals. Their most recent appearance came in 1998–99 when they defeated their long-time rivals, and defending Stanley Cup champions, the Detroit Red Wings to win their first Stanley Cup championship as well as their first Stanley Cup victory overall. In total, they have appeared in 21 playoff seasons out of their 53 years of existence. They have never missed the playoffs in consecutive seasons since moving to Dallas.
